Digipak darft

I decided to create a draft of what my digipak will look like, I included the title and the name of my artist to work out fonts and size, also where the barcode would be and the parental advisory sticker too. On the spine I added my record labels logo, the name of my artist and the name of the album. I haven't included the track listing or any information on the back as i haven't yet decided which track will go in this album. I do know that the track listing will be in the same font as the name of the album, just smaller and maybe in a different colour. I want to keep the colour scheme neutral and make sure the images work well with the colour scheme as well.

I am going to be making a few drafts of my digipak front cover to see which image works the best, I will get feedback on which one is most likely to sell to my target audience. I want the digipak to be mature, natural and seductive. This was it will catch the eye of my target audience because they wouldn't pick up a digipak that has hundreds of colours and patterns because there is too much going on, reminds them of the 80s and they wouldn't listen to rock music. My approach is to be subtle and enticing.

Questionnaire

I decided to create a questionnaire to give to 10 people so I can get some idea on what people look for on a Pop/R&B digipak. This is a copy of it.

I'm going to use the colour scheme of grey, black, white and red because it's easy to work with, subtle and works well with the colours I have used in my video. I have the time, so I have decided I'm going to create a booklet for the inside of my cover. I will try to include lyrics, upcoming events, words from the artist and more images of her. I am sticking with the title 'The secrets I keep' because my audience thinks it is intriguing and unique. I'm putting the bar code on the back cover in the corner and the parental advisory sticker on the front cover in the corner, depending on my main image, I will place it where I feel it fits best when it is all together on the cover. I will be taking a range of different shots with my artist so I will decide which image works best and is the most suited for my front cover once I have taken them, whether that will be a close up or a long shot.

Record Label

The record label I am working with is 'Beal Records'.

Conventions of a Promotional Poster

The advertisement selling the album or single of the artist should have the artist starring in it, he, she or they should be main focus in the middle bold and large to be noticed by the public and audience they are targeting.

The main image should follow the same theme as the album cover, this is because they use the same photos from the album photo shoot to advertise the selling product also linking both products together and making it clear to their target audience.

The main photo will be slightly different whether the artist is in a different position or it's been enhanced by editing but the image will follow the same colour scheme as the other photos from the album.

The largest text on the advertisement will be the artists or bands name, making it clear and bold who's single or album is being advertised. Their name will also be in the same font they always use, their own font. The second largest text will be the name of their album or single and the words 'New Album' will feature somewhere on the advertisement showing it's new and not an old album being re-advertised.

The will also show the artists number ones which are included on the album, other artists featuring on the album, new songs, bonus songs and features. It might also include the artist/bands website and label name.

Conventions of a Digipak

Front Cover - On the front of the album cover will include the artists name and name of the album. The album cover will either have an illustration of some sort linking it with the artist or a picture of the artist/band.

Spine of the Cover - The spine of the cover includes the artists names and the name of the album in the same font as the front cover just smaller.

Back Cover - The back cover will include a bar code which is the same with any CD. A parental explicit logo will also be on the back (if necessary) you may find it on the front sometimes, this is if the language is inappropriate warning parents and people who buy the album that the language may be explicit for some people.

Inside Flaps - The inside will show three or two compartments displaying images of the artist and using the same theme and colours at the front and back of the album cover or even illustrations. The first compartment will contain a booklet of more images of the artist again using the same colours, themes and illustrations. The booklet sometimes includes lyrics, the song titles, who wrote them, information and about the music company the artist belongs to. The middle compartment known as the send compartment is usually use to hold the disk which holds all the music. The disk will usually display the same colours and themes as the album cover may have the albums title on it and the artist's name.
